The importance of bees
Albert Einstein is credited with the phrase: "If the bees disappear, humans will have another 4 years to live".
Opinions differ on whether it is really his. Whether Einstein said it or not does not mean that it is not valid or that its value and significance are diminishing.
Bees have been declared the most important living thing on the planet, as 70% of world agricultural production depends solely on them, including fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Today, according to scientists, bees are among the endangered species. One of the serious problems in Greek and global beekeeping is the poisoning of bees by the pesticides used (insecticides and herbicides).
The problem must be made widely known so that immediate action can be taken to address it.
